Rising from a rough-hewn base is this memorial of polished Salisbury pink granite with a ridge top. Polished stars contrast with the steeled panel.

Inspired by the traditional early American monuments of New England, this grey granite monument has a half-round top and shoulders that are well suited to frame an emblem.

The polished jet-black granite inset with plaque and bas-reliefs in bronze memorializes the codiscoverer of the North Pole. At the apex, a gold-leaf star symbolizes the North Star. (This monument is located in Section 8, near the Admiral Peary Memorial.)

The serene beauty of this monument is reflected in its French Creek granite, whose grain has been compared to a tranquil sea. This monument features hand-cut letters with Navy cap emblem at top—all polished with a serpentine top.
